The Early Tudors period saw the expansion of polyphony in Latin church music, and the rise of the new musical foundations in England. The reign of Henry VII saw the emergence of music as a central component of English Court life. The period from 1490-1536 was a major period of English music. The Eton College Manuscript (1490?-1504?) or the Eton Choir books are a major source of period music. Prominent composers included: John Browne, Walter Lambe, Richard Davy, and William Cornysh ("The Elder"). Latin church music and the new English church music style developed in the early sixteenth-century English Church under eminent composers and musicians such as: Hugh Aston, Robert Fayrfax, Nicholas Ludford, and John Taverner. An English school of keyboard and organ music developed under John Redford.
