The Early English Renaissance is marked by the first international school of English composers. English musicians were working in English held lands in France, and abroad. A new composition style called "La Contenance Angloise" or the "English Style" was introduced by John Dunstable. The new cyclic polyphonic Masses, and the Marian cult became popular. Some of Dunstable's notable later contemporaries include: Benet, Forest, Frye, Plummer, and Lionel Power.
