Frequently Asked Questions
I am an existing customer and want to lease more equipment. What do I
do?
If you are a well-paying customer, call FirstLease at
(866) 49-FIRST and ask for Donald Wampler, ext. 253. Have your
contract number ready, and our sales staff will be happy to work with you for
all of your equipment financing needs. The lease documentation for subsequent
leases is very simple and consists of a new lease schedule and a UCC filing.
Can I pay my bill online?
Yes, in addition to US Mail and
automatic debit, we take payment online and over the phone. Click on the
Make a Payment icon on the home page or call us at
(866) 493-4778.
What do I do if I don't get an invoice and my payment is almost
due?
FirstLease strives to make paying your bill as easy as
possible. However, there may be times when you don't receive an invoice. There
are many circumstances that are out of our control, such as the US mail, address
changes, etc. If you don't get an invoice, please write your lease number in the
memo portion of your check and mail your regular monthly payment to:
FirstLease, Inc.
PO Box 57309
Philadelphia, PA 19111
You can always reach us at www.firstleaseonline.com/contact_us or call customer service toll free at (866) 493-4778 to check the status of your account or verify a payment amount.
If I have more than one lease with FirstLease, can I receive a
consolidated invoice?
Yes, we will send only one invoice listing
all of your lease schedules requiring you to send only one payment.
Do I have a grace period?
Your payment is due on or
before the contract due date. However, we will not assess a late charge until
the grace period on your contract has expired.
What is my payoff?
Generally, equipment lease contracts
are non-cancellable. Unlike most of our competitors, FLI offers a discounted
payoff to those customers that make at least twelve (12) consecutive timely
payments. Your lease balance is your payment multiplied by your remaining term.
You can find this on your monthly invoice. The lease balance, plus any fees and
taxes is your payoff. If you need a written payoff quote, you must submit a
payoff request in writing with your contract number and the signature of the
party who signed the lease documents. Requests can be faxed to (215)
283-9870 attn: Payoff Dept. Due to demand, there is a 48- to 72-hour
turnaround time. In order to protect your privacy, payoff letters will be mailed
to the address we have on file.
How do I change my bank account information for my automatic
debit?
If you are set up on automatic debit (ACH) and need to change
bank accounts, simply fax a copy of your new bank account's check with your
contract number, the date you need it changed by, and the signature of the party
who signed the lease documents. Submit your request as soon as
possible. Requests made within a week before your due date cannot be
fulfilled until the next month. Fax to the ACH Dept at (215)
283-9870. A voided check from your new account must be provided.
Why is there Personal Property Tax on my bill?
Some
states assess personal property tax (PPT) on tangible assets used for a
business. We are billed by each tax jurisdiction once a year. Do not
remit payment to your city, county, or state. PPT must be paid to
FirstLease.
How come my insurance payment and personal property tax are not being
automatically debited from my account?
In order to avoid returned
funds, we do not debit these additional charges until we receive approval from
you. They will continue to appear on your bill until you have notified us either
in writing or over the phone.
Why do I have to pay tax on my lease payments?
The
taxing authority of your state requires that your lease payment be taxed based
on their guidelines. The lease states (section 12) that all applicable taxes
will be added to the lease payment. Sales tax was not paid to the vendor at the
time of purchase. Therefore, in accordance with your state's taxing authority,
sales tax will either be in addition to the lease payment or included in the
lease payment. If you have additional questions regarding the tax status of your
lease, you may contact your state taxing authority or our tax department at
(866) 49-FIRST.
What is your insurance program?
We offer equipment
insurance for our customers through American Lease Insurance. It is
comprehensive coverage that protects all equipment under your contract with
FirstLease. For your convenience, you can pay your insurance directly to us
every month. Visit www.assurant.com for more information and a free price quote.
Should you choose not to use our coverage, simply fax over a copy of your
insurance certificate with FirstLease listed as loss payee. Our fax number for
insurance certificates is (866) 237-7229. Be sure to list your
contract number.
I received a letter stating that FirstLease bought my lease from my
original Lessor. Why was my lease sold?
It is very common in the
finance industry to buy and sell loans/leases. You may have experienced this
with your home mortgage. Nothing about your lease has changed. If you have any
questions please call FLI customer service toll free at (866)
49-FIRST.
Now that my lease was bought by FirstLease, to whom do I send
payment?
FirstLease, Inc. has purchased all servicing rights to your
lease. Please mail your payment and any correspondence to:
